Proposal for First Presbyterian Church Taos

Prepared on: February 2, 2025
Website Redesign

Our Partnership Opportunity

At Aboundant, we’re passionate about helping churches like the First Presbyterian Church of Taos create a thriving digital ministry. With your buildings getting a refresh thanks to the National Fund for Sacred Places, your website deserves an upgrade that matches this renewed energy. We’re here to guide you through this journey with our expertise, creativity, and a deep understanding of what it takes to connect with your community in meaningful ways that drive change.

The Challenge
Your current website has served its purpose but doesn’t fully capture the vibrancy of your mission or the opportunities your refreshed spaces will bring. It’s time for a modern, intuitive, and engaging online presence that not only tells your story but also becomes a powerful tool to attract new visitors, partners, and donors. We know this project feels a bit open-ended, and that’s where we shine. We’ll help you figure out what’s needed, what’s not, and what will make the biggest impact.

Our Solution
We believe in more than just websites—we believe in creating platforms that inspire action and connection. Here’s how we’ll partner with you:

      • Listen First, Build Second
We’ll start by sitting down (virtually) with you and key stakeholders to uncover what matters most. From functionality to content, we’ll dig into the details to ensure the final product reflects your goals and vision.
      • Sharpen Your Story
Through feedback from the National Fund and our own expertise, we’ll work with you to refine your branding and storytelling. Together, we’ll create a website that shares the heart of your mission and resonates with your audience.
      • Design for Today and Tomorrow
The new site will be clean, welcoming, and easy to navigate, with all the features you need to serve your congregation and community. It will be built to grow with you, designed for mobile, accessible to all, and optimized to attract the right visitors.
      • Empower Your Team
We won’t just hand over a website—we’ll make sure you’re set up for success. Our personalized training sessions and optional support through SiteGrowth 2.0 will equip your team to keep things running smoothly without added stress, so you can focus on your ministry online and offline.

Your Project

Based on your RFP and our initial assessment of your current site, we are recommending the following Branding & Web Design services:

Preparatory Phase - 20 hours
  • Existing Website Analysis – We’ll review your existing content and any analytics you may have to determine what’s working and should be kept for the new site project.
  • StoryBranding – We’ll help you tell the story of your organization to your desired audience using proven “StoryBranding” techniques.
  • Branding – We’ll design or refresh your visual brand, including your logo (up to 2 revisions), fonts and colors, ensuring that they’ll work well for digital use.
  • Brand Guide – We’ll create a brand guide for your new logo that will help you create overall consistency in your communications, with a color palette, color values, and so on.
  • Content Architecture – We’ll determine the best overarching structure for your website – i.e. what pages, post types, and menus you should have.
  • Search Engine Optimization – We’ll use advanced tools to identify the search terms from your messaging that will be the best to compete for in search engine results.
  • Content Collection System – We’ll set up our content collection system to receive content for your project.
Setup Phase - 2 hours
  • Hosting and Content Management System Setup – All the technical aspects of setting up a new website environment.
  • Site Migration – Migrating your existing website content to the new environment. This is typically more intensive and less accurate for non-wordpress related sites. WordPress site migration from Hostgator to WPEngine
Build Phase - 44.5 hours
  • Global Design Elements – One of the first things we do on a site is to set up your site-wide branding: Fonts, Colors, Logo Files, Favicon, Button Styles, etc.
  • Homepage – The homepage is the most important part of your site, and for our purposes contains the header and footer. It’s also the first thing we’ll draft in order to get your approval for our design approach.
  • Page Template – Having a flexible page template will make your future page designs quicker, easier, and unified. We’ll add to it as we build new sections on your site.
  • Individual Pages – Each page on your site deserves special attention to make sure your content, images, products and so on are effective. Based on your current content, we’re planning on 12-15 individually designed pages with an Accessibility Audit.
  • Post Templates – You’ll use posts to create most of your new content. The post template ensure that the design of your post will match the rest of the site, while adding some interactive features. This step will affect both how your individual post and a feed of posts will look.
    • Blog Post
    • Events Template
    • Sermons Template
  • Taxonomies – We’ll setup your predefined structure for categories, tags, authors, etc.
  • Posts – If you have posts you want to be created or cleaned up following import, they deserve the same attention as your pages. We’re planning on just a few of these, as most of your posts should fall within our templates.
  • Ancillary Pages – Examples include your 404 “Item not found” page, your search results page, etc. We’ll design the ones you need to match the rest of your site.
Features Phase - 8.25 hours
  • Advanced Forms – Get the information you need from your users. We’ve constructed complete college application processes using advanced forms, so the possibilities are endless. You can also accept payments or allow users to sign up for your email marketing list as
    part of your form.
  • Advanced Search – We’ll install a more sophisticated system search to improve your control over search results and improve the user experience.
  • Antispam Integration – Spam can sometimes be harmful if not properly identified, but mostly it’s just annoying. Services like Google recaptcha or Akismet can block most of the spam you might get through any of the forms or commenting systems on your website.
  • Email Marketing Integration – Using an email marketing system builds trust with your users and gives them more
control over what information they receive while keeping you off spam blacklists.
  • Google Analytics Integration – You’ll have insightful information about your site traffic, how you were found, and
    what devices people are using.
  • Google Maps Integration – Google maps is a great way to allow users to interact with your physical locations, especially when viewing your site on mobile.
  • Livestream Video Integration – If you have live events, embedding them on your website will give you more control over how your users find and experience them.
  • Performance Enhancements – We’ll install and calibrate performance enhancing software.
  • Privacy, Regulation Compliance – Some organizations require tools that control cookies and other data storage. We’ll set up a tool to manage this process. This is essential global, national, Illinois, and California sites that meet regulatory thresholds.
  • Security System – Your site will come with a lot of built in security, but can install and optimize a more robust security system for you.
  • SMTP – Website Email Server Integration (SMTP) – Have your site send form entries and notifications through your email server to ensure better deliverability.
  • Social Feed Integration – Having your social media feeds show up on your website is an easy way to add content and make your site more interactive.
    • Facebook
    • YouTube
Launch Phase - 3.5 hours
  • Training – Knowing how to use the most important features of your site is critical if you want to be able to add content or make changes.
  • Go Live – We’ll perform all the technical steps to take your site live.
  • Custom E-mail Setup – Point you in the right direction to signup for a free nonprofit email platform and setting up your domain for that platform.
Project Management - 12 hours
  • Project Management – Successful projects require organization, open dialogue, and smart planning. Aboundant values collaboration which is why project management bills at a lower rate.

Process & Timeline

Our web design process is built around collaboration, strategy, and seamless execution. Here we outline the key phases of the project, from discovery to launch and beyond. Each phase is designed to ensure that your new website is not only visually compelling but also functional, easy to manage, and aligned with your church’s mission.

To build trust and transparency, we’ve included estimated timelines and milestones, such as stakeholder meetings and feedback rounds. While specific timelines may shift based on project needs, we’ve provided a general range to help you understand the process.

Once you accept the proposal, we’ll schedule a kickoff meeting and set clear expectations for the project timeline. And after launch, our optional SiteGrowth 2.0 service ensures your site remains updated, secure, and optimized for ongoing success.

Phase 1: Preparatory | March-April 2025

This phase lays the groundwork for a successful project by thoroughly understanding your current website, mission, and goals. We take a collaborative approach, engaging key stakeholders and analyzing existing content to ensure we build a foundation that truly reflects your church’s values. By the end of this phase, we’ll have a clear roadmap to guide the design and development process. In this phase, we will establish a strong foundation by analyzing the existing website, defining the site’s structure, and gathering input from key stakeholders.

Phase 2: Design & Strategy | April - May 2025

With a well-defined strategy in place, we bring your vision to life. This phase is about creating a website that is both aesthetically beautiful and highly functional. We focus on crafting a design that is easy to navigate, welcoming to visitors, and built to grow with your church’s evolving needs. Our collaborative feedback process ensures the final design is something you’re proud to share with your community. With a clear strategy in place, we will begin designing the new website, ensuring a cohesive and intuitive user experience.

Phase 3: Development & Implementation | May-July 2025

This is where everything comes together. Our team will develop and test the core pages, post templates, and features that make your site a powerful tool for engagement. We prioritize accessibility, security, and performance to ensure your site is not only visually impressive but also reliable and easy to manage. Throughout this phase, we will keep you updated and incorporate feedback as needed. We will build the website’s core functionality, ensuring it is fully responsive, accessible, and optimized for performance.

Phase 4: Launch & Training | August 2025

As we prepare to launch, we will ensure your team feels confident managing and updating your new site. Our training sessions will walk you through key functions so that your staff can make updates with ease. After a final round of testing and optimizations, we’ll officially launch your new website, ensuring everything runs smoothly from day one. Even after launch, we’ll be available to provide support as needed. We will finalize the website, provide training, and ensure a smooth transition for your team.

Project Management (All Phases)

Throughout the project, our lead designer will serve as both your creative guide and project manager, ensuring a smooth and efficient process from start to finish. They will facilitate stakeholder discussions, oversee design and development, and keep everything on track so that your website is delivered on time and aligned with your vision. By having a dedicated point of contact, you’ll receive clear communication, expert guidance, and a collaborative experience that brings your website to life with purpose and precision.
